Georgian 9ct Gold Bloodstone Effect ‘Tassie” Intaglio Fob Seal, circa 1820-1840

£395.00

An ornate Georgian fob seal, crafted in solid 9ct gold, with an elaborate openwork mount formed from scrolling, cornucopia-like motifs and finely worked decorative details.

The dark green, bloodstone-effect glass seal is impressed with a classical profile head in the Roman style, in the tradition of the celebrated Tassie glass intaglios of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The sculptural gold mount is particularly appealing, with its richly modelled scrolls.

Originally intended to be worn suspended from a watch chain, this seal now makes a characterful pendant.

Materials: Solid 9ct gold and engraved bloodstone
Height: Approximately 22mm
Weight: 4.6g (fob only)
Chain: Supplied on a 14ct gold-filled chain

Condition: Good antique condition, with age-related surface wear and some wear and wear to the edge of the bloodstone. Please refer to the photographs, which form part of the description.
