A beautiful late Georgian sentimental ring in 9ct gold, centred with a glazed compartment containing an intricately plaited hairwork panel, framed by a border of sparkling rose-cut stones. The open gallery and elegant triple-wire shoulders are characteristic of the period.
Hairwork jewellery was one of the most personal forms of adornment in the Georgian era, preserving a lock of hair beneath glass as a lasting token of affection or remembrance. The finely woven blonde plait remains beautifully preserved.
