Circa 19th Century

A finely detailed 19th-century bloodstone fob, originally intended for a gentleman’s watch chain and now worn as a pendant.

Bloodstone is a stone of courage, protection, and steadfastness. In the Victorian era it was closely associated with moral strength, loyalty, and vitality, often chosen for seals and fobs carried daily - intimate objects meant to accompany their owner through life’s negotiations and journeys.

The polished bloodstone is set within a petite, elegantly worked gold mount, its restrained scale and careful chasing typical of authentic early fobs. The gold acid tests as 9ct.

Fob dimensions: approx. 2 cm x 1 cm
