A beautifully preserved Victorian sterling silver “book-chain” collar featuring its original dramatic drop section and an intricately engraved fern locket -  a classic motif from the era’s fern craze (Pteridomania).

The collar is made from solid silver plates decorated with raised star rivets - stars representing guidance and constancy in Victorian jewellery. The oval locket is framed with matching star appliqués and engraved with a fern design, symbolising sincerity.
