Victorian Jet Locket - “ IMO - In Memory Of”

£275.00

An exceptional Victorian Whitby jet mourning locket, circa 1870s-1890s, beautifully carved with a Gothic Revival design and faceting along the outer edge. This piece bears the traditional abbreviation “IMO” - In Memory Of, a hallmark of 19th-century mourning jewellery.

Both velvet ribbon choker and the antique lace pictured are provided (two options). Gold or silver chains are available upon request.

Condition: Very good antique condition. The front and reverse are clean and crisp with no flaws. There is a professional repair to a tiny age-related edge nibble on the inside back near the indentation used for opening. This is barely visible - only on close inspection when the locket is open (pictured side view and front); it does not detract from wear or display. The carving and facing remain crisp, and there are no cracks or structural issues. Please examine the pictures as they form part of the description.

Size: 7cm x 4cm uncluding bale.
