This is an incredible Victorian jet & 9ct gold heart locket pendant set with diamonds.

This is a substantial Victorian black heart pendant in gold with beautifully polished jet. The face carries a finely worked gold, diamond-studded monogram, while the reverse contains a velvet compartment for a cherished memento. This can be glazed as an additional request (2 week waiting time).

In the 19th century, jet jewellery became closely associated with mourning culture, its deep black surface symbolising remembrance. Paired with gold and diamonds, pieces like this embodied enduring love and devotion. The monogram is hard to decipher but likely is an ‘A’ flanked by two interlocking ‘D’s. Regardless of the monogram this is a rare, exceptional and covetable piece.
