Victorian Whitby Jet Starburst Mourning Locket

£250.00
sold out

A striking and unusually large Victorian Whitby jet locket, exquisitely hand-carved with a bold eight-point starburst motif. Measuring an impressive 6 cm, this is a rare statement piece that captures the elegance and symbolism of 19th-century mourning jewellery.

The eight-point star has long been associated with guidance, renewal, and protection. Seen across many cultures as a symbol of finding one’s way through darkness, it would have resonated deeply in the Victorian era- offering comfort, hope, and spiritual balance during times of loss.

The reverse of the locket holds a glass-covered compartment with a preserved pressed rose.

Condition: Good antique condition, age commensurate wear to the edges of the star (understandable for the age and material). Please examine the pictures as they form part of the description.

Size: 6cm x 5cm

This comes with an antique lace ribbon and either a 50cm silver chain or 45cm 14ct gold-filled chain (please email your preference).
