Victorian Hand-Painted Jet Locket

Victorian Hand-Painted Jet Locket
Late-19th-century jet locket featuring a hand-painted floral panel, uncommon within Victorian mourning jewellery. Jet was widely used between the 1860s-1880s, valued for its deep shine and strong association with commemorative wear.
The floral miniature features roses in pink, white, and yellow- symbols of affection, remembrance, and friendship in Victorian floriography. This suggests it was intended as a sentimental keepsake rather than strict mourning attire.
The locket opens cleanly and retains its internal compartment. Presented on a black antique lace ribbon AND with 45cm 14ct gold filled chain (second image).
Excellent antique condition.
