19th Century Gilt Metal Wax Seal Fob

£195.00

A chunky 19th Century Gilt Metal Floral Foliate Wax Seal Fob featuring the head of a woman in glass (red foil back).

During the 19th century, wax seals were both functional and decorative. Used to secure letters and documents, they served as a mark of authenticity and personal identity. Fob pendants such as this were commonly attached to a gentleman’s watch chain or worn as a pendant, combining utility with ornamental appeal. The floral and foliate motifs reflect Victorian tastes for naturalistic decoration, while the female profile evokes classical influence, a common stylistic feature of the period.

Materials: Rose gold gilt metal and glass.

Dimensions: 4cm x 2.5cm

Comes on a 45cm 14ct gold filly chain.

Condition: Good antique condition, wear commensurate with age, appears to be a slight flaw at the back of the seal but the seal itself appears intact. Please closely examine the pictures as they form part of the description.
