Victorian 9ct Gold On Silver Locket

A charming late Victorian oval locket, crafted in silver and overlaid with 9ct gold, stamped “9ct on silver.” The front is beautifully decorated with scrolling foliate engraving, a classic motif of the period symbolising growth and sentiment.

The locket opens to reveal space for two small photographs or mementoes, making it both a decorative jewel and a personal keepsake. Its combination of warm gold overlay on a silver base was a popular choice in the late 19th century, offering the richness of gold at an accessible price while retaining durability.

Dating to around 1880-1900, this piece is a lovely example of Victorian craftsmanship and sentiment, perfect to wear on a chain or ribbon.
